Print and Play Games

Boardgames are difficult to distribute online. You'll need to print out the gameboard and cards on a color printer and cut out the pieces yourself. Most inkjets can print on cardstock, making the job a bit easier. You'll also need to scavenge components from other games or use colored beads as tokens. Your reward will be a lovingly handcrafted game that you won't find in any stores.

About these Games

Before Marquee Press, I spent a summer with Richard Garfield designing board games. One of the games Richard designed and that we playtested was called Master of the Five Magics. Years later it would evolve into Magic: The Gathering.

Richard and I had gone to high school together and frequently played boardgames. After graduating high school we talked about forming a game design company and invested the summer in coming up with prototypes.

That summer Richard also came up with RoboRally. We even fooled around with programming it into a Texas Instruments home computer.

The summer ended with Richard heading off to college and we divided up the games. Magic and RoboRally were clearly Richard's and I want to make it clear that my contribution was as a friend and playtester. The true genius of Magic: The Gathering, the collectible aspect, wasn't invented until later.

This section is a showcase for the games I came up with while working with Richard and others I have developed since.
